Voluntary Contributions
A for-profit business contribution program: after processing fees, 90% of each net contribution goes to other cancer patients and families and 10% to the owner's household.
What a contribution is
A voluntary contribution is a payment to support this business's financial-assistance program. It is not a purchase of goods or services, and it is not a tax-deductible charitable contribution. We are not a charity, a charitable trust or a nonprofit organization, and no deduction or tax receipt is offered.
Contribution collection is not active at this version. No button, link or amount on the storefront accepts contributions, and no contribution has been received.
Allocation of contributions
After payment-processing fees, 90% of each voluntary contribution is allocated to assistance for other cancer patients and families, and 10% is allocated to the household that owns and operates Alongside Market. No portion of the net contribution is retained for ordinary business operating costs.
A net contribution is the completed contribution less actual payment-processing fees, adjusted for refunds or chargebacks. Product costs, general store expenses and the retail tax reserve are not deducted from it. A refund or chargeback is reconciled and is not treated as eligible assistance money.
Example (hypothetical, $3.00 fee illustrative only, not a promised processor rate): a $100.00 contribution with a $3.00 processing fee leaves $97.00 net; $87.30 to other families and $9.70 to the owner's household, with $0.00 retained for business operations.
Before this can activate
- An eligible provider product with a configured payment link, and confirmation that its account classification supports the disclosed founder-beneficiary model.
- Payments will be one-time by default. Recurring giving would require explicit approval, provider support, a stated amount and frequency, and cancellation information before any signup exists.
- A completed button click, return URL or client-side callback is not proof of payment. Only provider-supported authenticated notifications or documented manual reconciliation confirm an actual payment.
- Contribution refund handling and the adjustment of allocated-but-unpaid amounts will be agreed in writing before activation.
- Credentials and signing secrets stay server-side; nothing sensitive is placed in the storefront theme or browser code.
Acknowledgments
An acknowledgment would be sent only after a payment is verified: amount, date, reference, program allocation and a clear statement that it is not tax-deductible. It is an ordinary payment acknowledgment, not a charitable tax receipt. Retried notifications never produce a second charge or a duplicate acknowledgment.
